A native of Camino, California, Rear Adm. Ronald Fritzemeier received a direct commission as an ensign in the United States Navy Reserve in December 1985. He successfully completed engineering duty officer qualifications while assigned to the Albuquerque-based Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard reserve unit. Fritzemeier holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, minoring in mathematics, from California State University, Fresno.

Fritzemeier’s previous key assignments include chief of cyber strategy for Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), coordinating cybersecurity initiatives across the NAVSEA enterprise; commanding officer, NAVSEA System Engineering, overseeing Reserve Engineering Duty Officer support to Strategic Systems Program, Missile Defense Agency, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, PEO Integrated Warfare Systems, and Navy cyber and space missions; special advisor to Commander, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command / U.S. 10th Fleet; commanding officer, Naval Research Laboratory Space Engineering unit (Space programs and Maritime Domain Awareness); Commanding Officer, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, Charleston unit; SPAWAR deputy program manager for Joint Interoperability and Integration of Special Operations and Conventional Forces; and, Computer-Network Operations plans & staff officer, Joint Task Force–Computer Network Operations (JTF-CNO).

Fritzemeier currently serves as the chief engineer, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.

Fritzemeier’s personal decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal. Additionally, he is qualified as an information warfare officer.

As a civilian, Fritzemeier is a member of the Senior Intelligence Service. Key senior executive assignments include chief of the Cyber Strategy Integration Office; chief/intelligence, Directorate of Science & Technology; deputy director (Community), Threat Operations Center; and chief, Computer Operations Group, Information Operations Center. Prior to joining the Intelligence Community, he was a senior member of technical staff at a US Department of Energy laboratory, holding positions in microelectronics engineering, nuclear safety analysis, and reverse engineering.
