BIOGRAPHIES

Geri Appel is past president of the Rotary Club of Wichita and past district governor for District 5690.  She has been a Rotarian for 26 years and has served in many capacities at the club, district and international level.  She has trained incoming District Governors at Rotary International Assembly and represented the RI President at district conferences several times.  She is a recipient of her club’s, her district’s, and Rotary International’s Service Above Self Award.

Dr. Fred C. Heismeyer teaches and trains internationally as a trainer/coach focusing on team and leadership topics and an adjunct faculty member with Webster University and Baker University.  Fred has been involved with Rotary since 1997.  As well as the current President of the East Wichita Club, he has served as president-elect of the Iola, Kansas Club and on the board of the Springdale, Arkansas Club.  He has received the Service Above Self and Rotarian of the Year Awards.  Fred is Past National President of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity and served as Vice President of the Board of Governors of the Up with People International Alumni Association.  He has been married to Joyce (also a Rotarian) for 36 years.  The couple has provided foster care for children, enjoy traveling, and share a love of dogs.

Joyce Heismeyer began as the Chief Operating Officer of Kansas Heart Hospital in October 2011.  Prior to joining Kansas Heart she was the CEO of Allen County Hospital in Iola Kansas for 3 ½ years and held several leadership positions over 18 years at Northwest Health System in Springdale Arkansas, concluding her career there as COO/Administrator.  Joyce has been a member of Rotary since 2005.  She and her husband, Fred, reside in Wichita.

DeAnn Sullivan is past president of the Rotary Club of West Wichita and is currently serving as their chair for International Service. She coordinates the playground map project for all of the clubs in our district and helps share the project with Rotary clubs across the U.S. as well. She has received her club’s Service Above Self award and, thanks to Shelli Kadel, has been a Rotarian for 18 years. When she’s not busy with Rotary, she does business and project management training for WSU’s Center for Management Development to fund her travel budget.

Greg Sullivan is a graphic designer and owner of Sullivan Gang Creative, a 48 year old firm into all things print and digital. Greg practices creative emersion in not just his client’s projects but in fatherhood, in life-long learning, in travel and now even in Rotary as a new downtown club member. Born and raised in Wichita, he is proud of his hometown and to have been honored with the “Business in the Arts” Award and as a Leadership Wichita graduate.
