Dr. Ragnar Peterson, surgeon
Via Christi

Surgeon Ragnar Peterson is a Lindsborg, Kansas, native who returned to his home state in 2016 and established a Complex Hernia Center at Ascension Via Christi St. Teresa. It is the only such center in the state outside the Kansas City metro area. While Dr. Peterson is a board-certified general surgeon, he specializes in complex hernia repair and abdominal wall reconstruction. He also knows something about pain and recovery. He broke his back while in college and spent a year and a half in recovery, helping him better understand what patients and families need in the way of support and education when navigating that journey. The secret to caring for patients, he says, is to care for the patient. Dr. Peterson earned his medical degree and completed his residency training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. He and his wife, Brittany, have a 2-old daughter, Scarlett. In his free time, he enjoys driving race cars and rock climbing.
